Some of the biggest computer problems today are the result of computer viruses.  Computer viruses are transferred in many ways.  The most common means of transporting a computer virus is via email.  Most email-borne viruses travel via an attachment.  The unsuspecting user clicks on the email attachment and unleashes the virus on their computer. 

Fortunately most viruses are merely annoying and the only harm they cause is sending themselves to other users in your address book.   Some viruses, however, can do damage to files and change program settings on your computer.  The most important piece of software you can have on your computer is virus detection software.

How do you know if you have a virus?  In most cases you don’t until it is too late. 

Some of the symptoms include:

• People from your address book are complaining that you sent them a virus.
• Some of your applications including your virus software may have suddenly stopped working.
• Your operating system no longer starts up.
• Certain files have been mysteriously changed or are missing.
• Your computer is running slow all of the sudden.
